Ergapolis Competition

The Belvédère: a new center for the Bréau neighborhood. This master plan created by the Eco'6'team aims at answering for the city of Fontainebleau's goals for a more sustainable urban landscape. These old military training grounds will be transformed into a new attractive neighborhood with all the latest in architectural, urban and technological innovation. Rethinking the city by integrating participative behaviors from its inhabitants in all of the project's design and built existence implies all of the different actors to be deeply involved in the construction process. The link between the Clos des Ebats and the Héronnières stables embodies the transition between a historical past and a bright and pioneering future in sustainable urban design. The historical buildings are refurbished and enhanced by becoming social housing, an artistic workshop and a activity center for older citizens. The renovations will allow the building to have a BBC refurbishment labeling. Th new Bréau will revolve around a building holding 120 dwellings, the old refurbished stables and its highest point: The Belvédère café and restaurant. The residential building will also house several charitable associations while the stables will house local products and clothing stores. The old training grounds will hold 84 houses ranging from grouped housing to individual homes. The project integrates a great number of sustainable equipment such as a cogenerator, phytoremediation to clean water and solar urban lighting.
